Service Lift Inspection and Maintenance (SLIM)

Duration: 8 hours Validity: Unlimited

The Service Lift Inspection and Maintenance (SLIM) module enables participants to perform visual inspections, functional tests, and preventive maintenance of service lifts used in wind turbine generators (WTGs). The training follows the GWO V5 (2025) standard and combines 30% theory with 70% hands-on practical exercises to ensure safe and compliant lift operation.

Participants will learn how to:
– Understand international and national legislation related to service lift inspection;
– Perform initial, daily, and periodic visual and functional inspections of the lift and its safety systems;
– Identify and classify technical defects, corrosion, wear, or mechanical deformation;
– Check and maintain key lift components such as guide rails, traction hoist, suspension system, wire ropes, and safety interlocks;
– Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other mandatory safety procedures before inspection or maintenance work;
– Document all findings in inspection logs and maintenance reports in compliance with GWO and ISCIR standards;
– Take immediate corrective measures and report major defects before the lift is returned to service.

Objective:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to safely perform inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities on service lifts inside wind turbines, ensuring both personal safety and compliance with technical regulations and manufacturer documentation.
