This course is the second step for auto mechanics to expand their internal combustion engine repair skills to electric vehicles. It follows the ASE Level 2 guidelines to become a “high-voltage vehicle technician.” After this course, you should be able to pass the ASE xEV Electrical Safety Standards Version 1.1 Level TWO exam. This exam certifies automobile technicians to work safely on the high-voltage components of electric vehicles, excluding the traction battery. You’ll learn about the personal protective equipment and specialised tools you'll need to work safely on EVs. You'll also learn how to de-energise vehicles and confirm absence of voltage so you can then repair the high-voltage components of the vehicle. This excludes the large propulsion battery, which requires ASE Level 3 certification.
