RenewAcad, the largest network of renewable energy training centres in South-Eastern Europe, together with Rezolv Energy, today opened a new training centre in Buzau County, dedicated to preparing specialists for the renewable energy industry. The event also marks the launch of the first groups of trainees within the Rezolv Energy Skills Academy programme, through which Rezolv Energy is offering 100 free training places for residents of the region.

The new centre operates as a local skills hub for the green economy, where participants are prepared for occupations in the wind and solar sectors by combining practical training with theoretical modules. RenewAcad provides the training infrastructure and certified instructors, while Rezolv Energy finances the free places through the Rezolv Energy Skills Academy, part of the Rezolv Energy Shift impact platform, which aims to make the energy transition more equitable and more inclusive for communities in Romania.

“For us, the energy transition means not only investments in wind and solar parks, but also direct investments in people,” said Marian Pavel, Country Manager Rezolv Romania. “Through the free places we offer at the RenewAcad centre in Buzau, we want people from the host communities of our projects to have real access to the jobs of the future, to international standards, and to be able to work long term on clean energy projects, including in the area of the VIFOR wind park and in other investments we are preparing in Romania,” added Marian Pavel.

The aim of the initiative is that, by the end of the year, at least 100 people from Buzau County will have completed both the internationally accredited Global Wind Organisation (GWO) courses and the national courses accredited by the Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity, thus preparing for a long-term career in renewable energy. Between 1 October and 13 November 2025, 121 people had already registered on the platform, exceeding the target by 21%, and starting from 5 November the first training groups in the solar and wind fields began. Half of the trainees come from the host communities of the VIFOR Project.

The first programmes delivered at the RenewAcad Buzau centre include the GWO Basic Safety Training modules for the wind industry, already completed between 11–14 November, as well as the “Photovoltaic Systems Installer” course, taking place between 4 November and 4 December 2025. The trainees come from across Buzau County and span all age groups – from young people aged 18–20 to people over 50 – as well as different levels of education, from qualification certificates to higher education degrees.

The programme specifically encourages women to enrol, facilitating greater access for female participants to technical professions in the renewable energy sector, a field in which they remain under-represented.

“The official opening of the RenewAcad Buzau Centre confirms our role as a technical partner for renewable energy investments in Romania,” said Sebastian Enache, Director of RenewAcad. “We wanted the training centre to be hosted within an educational institution, and we have also set up outdoor training areas where participants train in conditions as close as possible to the reality of wind and solar parks: dedicated equipment, operational scenarios and a practice-oriented approach. Our goal is for every trainee to be ready to enter a worksite safely and to meet employers’ requirements,” added the RenewAcad Director.

Registrations for the free places offered by Rezolv Energy at the RenewAcad Buzau centre are ongoing and are open exclusively to people residing in Buzau County. Candidates must complete the online form available at rezolv.renewacad.eu. New training groups will be scheduled as the selection process progresses and, depending on the number of applicants, training sessions will also be organised next year.

With more than six local centres (Bucharest, Buzau, Constanta, Petrila, Rovinari and Arad), it offers accredited and authorised courses in the wind and solar sectors, as well as vocational training, recruitment, and social inclusion services in the green economy.
