Târgu Jiu/Rovinari, September 11, 2025 – The RenewAcad project, funded by OMV Petrom and implemented by Funda?ia ?anse Egale with the support of Wind Power Energy through the RenewAcad training center, has successfully concluded after two training stages. In total, 214 individuals with mining experience completed the course accredited by the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity – “Installer for Solar Photovoltaic Systems,” gaining essential skills for integration into a sustainable economy.

The first stage took place in December 2023 in Târgu Jiu, where 104 participants from Oltenia benefited from the re-skilling program. The second stage was completed on September 11, 2025, in Rovinari, training an additional 110 participants. Thus, the project achieved its goal: training over two hundred specialists in the renewable energy sector.

“The energy transition requires people prepared to take the step into new green industries. Through the RenewAcad Târgu Jiu project, which was a real success, 214 individuals with mining experience received the chance to re-skill in a future-oriented field, and this success confirms that Romania is ready for change. Now, they have a new opportunity and can consider a new career as mining activity further decreases or ceases entirely,” said Sebastian Enache, Director of Wind Power Energy.

Interest in the RenewAcad project was very high, with demand exceeding the available places threefold.

“OMV Petrom supports the sustainable development of communities through investments in education and professional retraining. RenewAcad offered a new perspective to people who have contributed for decades to energy production and who, through this project, have acquired valuable skills in renewable energy. We are pleased to have been able to support this tangible transition to green jobs,” said Franck Neel, Member of the Executive Board of OMV Petrom.

Participants had diverse profiles – electricians, mechanical fitters, engineers, programmers – and the training combined theory with practical applications. Satisfaction levels were remarkable, with over 98% of participants expressing high satisfaction with the quality of instruction, organization, and interaction with trainers.
